The year 2021 is coming to a close, and fortunately, over the past months we have had many great gaming experiences. In general, 2021 was a wonderful year for fans of different types of games, as everyone took satisfactory experiences in all categories. We can consider the current year was just a heating up for companies to prepare for the release of giant games for the new generation, and indeed 2022 brings us an impressive set of great titles that players have been waiting for since normal years. #1- A Plague Tale: Requiem
The second part of the wonderful action and adventure series A Plague Tale comes in 2022 to complete the events of the story of Amicia and Hugo during the medieval era and the occurrence of the plague phenomenon in the whole of Europe. The events of the game take place in the country of France, and although the end of the first part confirms the end of the plague, the official presentation of the second part shows that the matter will not end, but will only get worse. Unfortunately, there are not many details about the game at the moment and the gameplay has not been reviewed or any features it offers have been revealed.
A Plague Tale: Requiem targets the new generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms, as well as the PC. The game will be available on release day via a subscription to Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox platforms.
#2- STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
After 12 years of absence, GSC Game World is preparing the official second installment of the action and horror series STALKER, which takes place in the Chernobyl region after a nuclear reactor explosion. The story of the second part will introduce us to new characters and wider and deeper playing areas with more terrifying enemies, but at the same time we will return to see some of the areas we had fun in during the previous parts. The game offers a giant open world and will have a size of approximately 150 GB!
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl is coming as a PC and Xbox Series X|S exclusive on April 28, 2022. The game will be released on Xbox Game Pass, and a few months later we’ll see it make its way to PlayStation 5 as well. GSC Game World studio wanted to add NFT features in the game, but rescinded its decision after players were pissed off!
#3- The Outlast Trials
Studio Red Barrels is preparing to present its next masterpiece after two frightening experiences in the series. The new sub-part brings us back memories of the events of the first part with a group of patients being experimented on by the dark Murk off Institution. This game will be the longest part of the series and offers the possibility of self-defense against enemies, in addition, it allows you to finish the whole story with 3 other of your friends so that you can share the game journey together.
Unfortunately, a final release date for The Outlast Trials has yet to be revealed and we don’t know on all the platforms on which it will be released. #4- Hogwarts Legacy
The much-awaited game from studio Avalanche that will take the beloved world of Harry Potter and present it in an open experience with gigantic RPG elements. Unfortunately since it was revealed at the PlayStation Future of Gaming event in 2020, we haven’t heard any new news about it and it has been postponed to 2022 instead of late 2021. #5- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
The studio of Rocksteady that brought us Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015 is now focusing all its efforts on its next game, which will be radically different from its previous games. Suicide Squad is not yet fully visible to us. The game has only been shown in two cinemas with a gameplay clip revealed at The Game Awards, so there are many expectations that the game is likely to be postponed to 2023. Horizon Forbidden West comes to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on February 18, 2022. The game will support the free upgrade of the PS4 version of the PS5 so there is no need to purchase the PS5 version of the game and pay additional money.
#7- Dying Light 2: Stay Human (Upcoming Games in 2022)
After many delays and development issues, the second part of the zombie and parkour series is coming after a few months and this time studio Techland is offering us a different experience than the first part. The map of the second part is significantly larger than the first, and the story this time has many options that affect the events, which means that we will get different endings. The gameplay has also seen huge improvements and the addition of a bunch of new animations for confrontations and parkour that will make you feel like you are in control of a real person due to the accuracy of the movement.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on February 4, 2022. Techland will also release a cloud-based version for Nintendo Switch.
#8- Starfield
The game that has been in development since 2013 and that will be Bethesda Games’ biggest studio title ever. Starfield is a space exploration game based on a new version of the Creation Engine. Everything that Bethesda has learned over the past years with Fallout 4 and Skyrim will be revealed to us in the best way with Starfield, which will present a new world with huge planets to explore and solve its various puzzles, facing enemies and special creatures.
Starfield is coming exclusively to PC and Xbox Series X|S on November 11, 2022. You’ll be able to purchase the game for $60, or you can get it with your Xbox Game Pass subscription.
#9- God of War: Ragnarok (Upcoming Games in 2022)
We will see the end of Kratos and Atreus’ journey in Scandinavia as they try to prevent the battle of the giant gods Ragnarok from happening. The gameplay is quite similar to God of War 2018, but a bunch of new mechanics will be added to make the experience relatively fresh. The game also introduces a group of new characters such as Thor, Odin and other gods that we will face in the battle of Ragnarok. We hope the Scandinavian civilization gets a strong end and prepares us for new parts in different civilizations.
God of War Ragnarok is available exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 later in 2022. Unlike Horizon Forbidden West, upgrading from the PS4 version for PS5 will require you to pay an additional $10.
#10- Elden Ring
This is the most anticipated game of 2022 for most players. After the huge success of the Dark Souls series, Bandai Namco has decided to team up with From Software to bring an all-new experience titled Elden Ring . This game will bring us everything the studio has learned in its previous titles, but this time in a huge open world that you can explore alone or with your friends. Of course, the basics of Souls games are still here, which means you’ll get to experience challenging puzzles, solve puzzles, and battle powerful bosses. Elden Ring will be From Software’s biggest studio experience, and I personally can’t wait to get my hands on this epic experience.
